Reflecting on Our Year at MBJCC

“If we were able to survey at a glance all we have done in the course of our life, what would we feel? We would be terrified at the extent of our own power.” – Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel

As 2023 comes to a close, there is so much to be thankful for, even during these most challenging times. In the wake of October 7, our Miami Beach JCC community has come together in unity and strength for our brothers and sisters in Israel. We are proud of our Center’s critical role in providing a safe and secure space to gather and to mobilize as a community during times of need.

During these last few months, we have welcomed several families from Israel with complimentary memberships and have hosted various special programs, fundraisers, and mitzvah projects. A few highlights include…. a bearing witness program with survivors of the Nova Music Festival, the Yad B’Yad Shuk and other pop-ups selling Israeli products, a letter-writing campaign to IDF soldiers, and a mitzvah project with Operation Gratitude and the Global Empowerment Mission to decorate personalized pillowcases for families in Israel. We are proud to say that when there is a need, the MBJCC is here.

Now more than ever, we are reminded of the importance of a physical place to celebrate our Jewish culture and connect with one another.

We are growing, and we are thriving! The MBJCC now serves over 6,000 individuals through our programs and services each year, with an annual budget of nearly $6 million. However, membership dues and program fees cover just 85% of budgetary needs, with 15% generated through the generosity of donors, grants, and sponsorships. We can not do it without YOU!

Please consider supporting our Miami Beach JCC by making a meaningful end-of-year tax-deductible contribution now. There are many ways that you can help make an impact.

We are Powered by Community!

DONATE NOW

The Everyone Belongs Scholarship Fund

Each year, the MBJCC provides $250,000 scholarship and financial assistance to families for membership, after-school and enrichment programming, sports and summer camp tuition. We will never turn a family or individual away due to their inability to pay. The Everyone Belongs Scholarship Fund is funded each year through donor support.

The Wiesenfeld Security Fund

This fund was established by community leaders and the MBJCC Board of Directors in the wake of October 7 to dedicate additional resources for armed security personnel and equipment. The Wiesenfeld Family Security Fund was named in recognition of a generous gift to the MBJCC Capstone Capital Campaign made by Jason Wiesenfeld, a longtime MBJCC supporter and leader.

Patron of the Arts

Arts & Culture at the MBJCC has touched thousands of lives through film, literary programs, musical concerts, art gallery exhibits, cultural outings, and various special events, lectures and speakers. This is made possible through the generosity of our Patron of the Arts donors who are committed to our mission of being the center of Jewish arts & culture on Miami Beach.
