CONCERT: A MUSICAL REVUE BASED ON THE BEST SELLING BOOK BY ABIGAIL POGREBIN

Miami Beach JCC

This funny and captivating musical revue features original songs by the finest composers and lyricists of the theatre and celebrates the identity of some of the most well known Jewish personalities including Marilyn & Alan Bergman (Award-winning lyricists of “The Windmills of your Mind,” “The Way We Were” and others), Andy Cohen (Bravo Executive and Host of “Watch What Happens Live”), Gloria Steinem (Author, Feminist and Activist), Kenneth Cole (Fashion Designer, Activist), Fran Drescher (Actress/Comedian, TV’s “The Nanny”), Edgar Bronfman Sr. (Former CEO of Warner Music Group), Aaron Sorkin (TV/Film Writer, “The West Wing,” The Social Network), Leonard Nimoy (Actor, “Star Trek”), Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg (Supreme Court Justice), Joan Rivers (Actress, Comedian, Host of “Fashion Police”), Tony Kushner (Playwright, “Angels in America”) and Norman Lear (TV Writer/Producer, Creator of “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons”), among others.

Their stories have been adapted into touching, humorous and often moving songs by such celebrated, award-winning writers as Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line), Marilyn & Alan Bergman (Yentl), Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof), Duncan Sheik & Steven Sater (Spring Awakening), Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, Or Change), Richard Maltby & David Shire (Closer Than Ever), Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Amanda Green (High Fidelity), Nathan Tysen & Chris Miller (The Burnt Part Boys), Susan Birkenhead (Jelly’s Last Jam), Gaby Alter & Itamar Moses (Nobody Loves You), Daniel Messé and others.

ABIGAIL POGREBIN, a former 60 Minutes producer for Mike Wallace, is the author of “Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk About Being Jewish” and “One and the Same” about her life as a twin. Her bestselling Amazon Kindle Single, “Showstopper,” chronicled her teenage adventures in the original Broadway cast of Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along.” She writes for numerous publications including Newsweek, New York Magazine and the Daily Beast, and is writing a column for The Forward about immersing herself in the Jewish calendar for the first time: “18 Holidays: One Wondering Jew.”
