Boker Tov: Spiritual Awakening with Rabbi Marc Philippe

Our camp day starts with Rabbi Marc Philippe of Temple Emanu-El in Miami Beach, leading us in song and spiritual connection. In addition to his role as at Temple Emanu-El, Rabbi Marc Philippe is a public speaker, cantor, musician, conductor, and hypnosis specialist, and is a founder of the Kodesh House, a Jewish Spiritual Center in Miami.

I8 Treasures: QiGong with Marty Perlmutter

Learn simple and highly beneficial warm-up movements that promote balance, massage the energy centers of the body and act as a moving meditation.



11:15 am – 12:00 pm
Essential Oils for Better Sleep and Stress Relief with Amy Galper

Come cook a simple and Learn a holistic approach to achieving a better night’s sleep, using natural plant-based essential oils. Amy Galper, B.A., M.A., is the founder of the first Aromatherapy School in NYC, the New York Institute of Aromatherapy, has been a Certified Aromatherapist since 2001, as well as a passionate advocate, entrepreneur, formulator and consultant in Clean Beauty and Wellness.

Conversation Circle

Join the conversation! Selected questions will be posted to the group by the facilitator who will give the first response, and then each participant will then have an opportunity to share their answer. When everyone has answered, each member can add follow-up comments in response to the previous answers shared. The process repeats with the next question and continues until the end of the session.


2:15 – 3:30 pm
One-Day University Presents: In the Headlines with Dr. Alan Fisher

This lecture will explore the current events taking place around the world at this moment.
Dr. Alan Fisher taught at the University of North Carolina, Tel Aviv University, San Diego State University, and California State University Dominguez Hills. He has taught several courses at OLLI on American political thought and the Constitution.


3:30 – 4:00 pm
Self-Massage with Alissa Stein

In this class, you will use your own hands which have the power to heal. You will be guided through a series of gentle and relaxing movements. This class will help calm anxiety, strengthen your immune system and create a sense of well-being and resilience. No prior experience is necessary.
Please wear comfortable clothes, be barefoot, and be seated on a wood or tile surface, if possible. Have a stainless steel spoon handy. (You will know it is stainless if a magnet sticks to it.) Refrain from eating an hour prior to class, if possible.


4:00 – 5:00 pm
At The Movies with Sheldon “Shelly” Isaacs

Shelly Isaacs will discuss the award-winning French film “Once in a Lifetime”, a comedy-drama that takes us in the heart of a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic grade 10 class in a Parisian suburb. To overcome her unruly pupils’ careless attitude, their history teacher enrolls them in a national history competition about the impact of Nazi regime on young people. Participants are invited to watch “Once in a Lifetime” on their own prior to lecture, available on Amazon Prime, Tubi, YouTube, iTunes and Kanopy.

Shelly is founder, programmer and host for Cafe Cinematheque and Senses of Cinema programs available at many venues throughout South Florida. Previously, he enjoyed a long career as a creative director/writer & producer/director in advertising. He earned his MA in Media Ecology Studies from New York University, where he served as an adjunct in Graduate Level Cultural Studies.

Jimmy Valentine as Frank Sinatra, live from the Miami Beach JCC

James “Jimmy” is an instructor for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at FIU and performs Sinatra shows around town as “Jimmy Valentine”. Having not only met Sinatra, but having also extensively studied him, “Jimmy” is sure to inform and excite.
