Max Bruch and Kol Nidrei: How a Protestant Composer Created One of the Most Beloved Jewish Concert Works Discover the remarkable story of how the German Romantic composer Max Bruch transformed the ancient Yom Kippur melody Kol Nidrei into one of the most beloved works in the concert repertoire, exploring its Jewish origins, historical context, and enduring musical legacy. Dr. Alan Mason is an outstanding instructor for JCC-U/ Alan received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami, and is a retired Associate Professor of Music at Barry University. He is the Director of Music at Bet Shira Congregation, and the conductor of HaZamir Miami, a chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir.
