Film Screening: The Great Divide

The 2023 documentary, The Great Divide, directed by Tom Donahue uses Colorado as the grounded backdrop to examine America’s broader relationship with firearms, trauma, and political polarization. The fierce 2019 legislative battle over Colorado’s Red Flag gun-seizure law is the narrative spine of the film. It also examines and connects the historical Roots of modern mass shooting epidemics and gun debates to a deeper, generational history of violence. The film features interviews with varied local figures, ranging from right-wing lobbyists like Dudley Brown to gun-reform activists and parents impacted by mass tragedies.

This special event will feature producer Ilan Arboleda in attendance to introduce the film and, following the screening, participate in an extended audience conversation exploring the powerful themes, questions, and timely issues raised by the documentary.
