From film scores to folk songs, music from and inspired by WWII…
Step into Hollywood’s Golden Age with lush film scores by musical exiles Erich Korngold and Franz Waxman, brought to life by conductor Anja Bihlmaier. Experience Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, his final composition, blending influences from his new home in America with a nostalgic saxophone solo and dramatic waltz. Cuban composer Julián Orbón weaves his homeland’s folk music into his works, while Schoenberg’s A Survivor from Warsaw serves as a powerful tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.
This concert is part of Resonance of Remembrance, a season-long series marking the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII and the Holocaust. Through music, we honor the past, remember the lives lost, and reflect on the urgent need for peace today.
