SUMMARY:Reverse Tashlich - JCC Family Tikkun Olam Day
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Sunday\, September\, 29\, 9:00 for a family friendly\, morning program on the MBJCC Sol Stern Dock as we use the kayaks and canoes of the Mariner Program to help keep the Indian Creek Waterway clean in a pre-High Holiday – Reverse Tashlich! We will help the environment and help keep the intercoastal behind the JCC! \nThis is a program of the Tikkun HaYam – Repair the Sea organization which organizes Reverse Tashlich programs all over the world. Volunteers from the climate and environmental organization VolunteerCleanUp.org. \nBring your children and grandchildren! Lifeguards will be on duty. \nA donation of $18 per person is requested (children under 12 are free). MB JCC Lifeguards will be present. Refreshments will be served! \nA portion of the proceeds support the MBJC Mariners program and VolunteerCleanUp.org\, a non-profit dedicated to clean beaches\, water and ending single use plastics. They will be on hand to assist with nets\, grabbers\, buckets and other equipment. \n  \nWhat is a Reverse Tashlich?\nSponsored by the Jewish organization Tikkun HaYam-Repair the Sea\, the Reverse Tashlichprogram\, conducted worldwide\, reimagines the High Holiday Tashlich ceremony of symbolically casting away sins into water. The symbolism is reversed: participants come together to clean up waterways that impact our lives\, fostering a spiritual connection to and stewardship for the environment.

DESCRIPTION:$18 per family (includes a signed copy of the book) \nBring the whole family to enjoy a bagel breakfast and a read-along with the author\, Susan Kusel\, of this magical and beautifully illustrated Passover holiday story. \nTHE PASSOVER GUEST is a fresh retelling of a classic I. L. Peretz Yiddish story about poverty\, faith and a surprise visit by the Prophet Elijah. \nIt’s the spring of 1933 in Washington\, D.C.\, and the Great Depression is hitting young Muriel’s family hard. Muriel assumes her family is too poor to hold a Passover Seder this year\, but an act of kindness and a mysterious magician change everything.
